COVID SPECTATOR POLICY: Unfortunately, even with vaccination rates up and infections rates sharply down, COVID continues to impact our lives and businesses. COVID policies and restrictions remain in place throughout New York State and we must adhere to those guidelines. Spectators WILL be allowed to attend the GymRat CHALLENGE. At LEAST two spectators per player will be allowed to attend each set of games. If building CODE-capacities permit, additional spectators will be allowed to view each game set. Building COVID-capacities vary from site to site. At all sites, parents and families will be given spectator first priority and will be allowed to enter the competition area prior to the general public or media. At the conclusion of each game, players, fans, and coaches will be asked to clear the competition area in a timely fashion in order to allow the set of parents, family, and fans to be seated for the next set of games. We thank you in advance for your adherence to this practice so that we can keep all safe and allow parents and families to enjoy watching their children compete at the GymRat CHALLENGE.
COVID MASK POLICY: Currently, New York State guidance allows individual businesses to determine their mask policy. As a result, we will adhere to the mask policies that have been put in place by each of our competition sites. We understand and appreciate that MANY people are fatigued by COIVD limitations and restrictions, including mask wearing. However, we do not dictate these policies. They are dictated by the building owners and we MUST adhere to them. The stated mission of the GymRat CHALLENGE is to create a top-level competition venue for young basketball athletes to showcase their skills in front of college coaches and expert evaluators. The Admissions Gate and spectator seating will NOT become a distraction from that mission by devolving into a place for political debate over mask wearing. Spectators who want to watch the games can do so by adhering to the building policies. Spectators who do not want to adhere to building policies will simply not be allowed in the venues. The individual building mask policies are:
- ALBANY CAPITAL CENTER: Masks ARE required for all spectators at all times. Players, coaches, and officials are NOT required during competition. Once players, coaches and officials reach the competition floor, they can remove their masks. However, masks must be worn by players, coaches, and officials as they walk to and from the competition court.
- HUDSON VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE is a completely “mask optional” venue.
- AFRIM’S SPORTS is a completely “mask optional” venue.
- SARATOGA REC CENTER is a completely “mask optional” venue.
TICKETS will be on sale for spectators on site at all competition venues. Tournament passes are available for $30 and will allow access to all games across all venues during the event weekend. One day passes are also available for $25 per event day. Senior citizen pricing is $25 for a Tournament Pass and $20 for a One-Day pass. Family pricing is offered for two adults with two or more children (where facility COVID limits allow) at $80 for a Tournament Pass and $65 for a One-Day pass. Children under six are admitted for free.
